This Catalogue includes an update to all cartridge valves for full compatibility with the Hydraulic Manifold Block Module in Automation Studio™ P7.0. Using the Catalogue brings to your fingertips all the powerful features of the Manifold Module to create, design and even test the performances of the manifold circuit through the simulation of the 3D manifold, including the individual components configured from the Catalogue. Synchronization between the Automation Studio™ schematic and the 3D manifold layout allows real-time pressure and flow measurements through the block channels and valves. Catalogue component’s part number and cavity information are also included and can be modified in the Component Properties, directly on the schematic. Each 3D model shown in the 3D Viewer tab is linked to the part number configuration and reflects the chosen options.

Product Selection and Configuration
产品选择和配置

The Catalogue Manager of Automation Studio™ consists of three sections, as shown in Figure 1. The first section (1) contains a catalogue tree similar to the manufacturer’s website where a user can easily find a component per the requirements. In the catalogue tree, hydraulic valves have been categorised by types and function. The second section (2) consists of different tabs where the user can get information like technical data, images or 3D CAD files of the selected component. The “Documents” tab of this section contains test files and the manufacturer’s technical specifications of the product.

Section (3) shows a “Set Specific Part Number” function button which opens the “Product Configurator” window, as shown in Figure 2.

Using the “Product Configurator”, the user can easily select specific product characteristics and configure the manufacturer-specific part number of the component. The options to choose the desired type of model, seal, pressure range, pressure setting, control and more, are available. The product information, technical data and symbol get updated with the selected options. The “Symbol Viewer” button (refer to Figure 2) allows the user to magnify the view of the configured component’s symbol. All these Catalogue Manager features were designed to enable the user to easily choose and configure pre-modelled hydraulic valves.

Users may now simply drag and drop the desired valve into the editor area of Automation Studio™ for circuit integration. The valves can be reconfigured on the editor area by accessing the “Part Number” tab in component properties, as shown in Figure 3. It contains the same options as the “Product Configurator” window. “Catalogue Information” opens the manufacturer’s technical specifications of the product so users don’t need to go back to the “Documents” tab of the Catalogue Manager. The “3D viewer” tab displays 3D CAD files and dynamic updates for the product, according to the selected configuration. Details related to the cavity can be seen in the “Cavity Information” tab. It also provides choices to modify the cavity. All these new features are incorporated to reduce editing time while developing hydraulic integrated circuits and corresponding cartridge valve manifolds. Thus, the valve models can be directly used for the design of a hydraulic circuit, simulation in real-time or monitoring in Automation Studio™.

Product Test and Application
产品测试与应用

The valves in the Catalogue are configured and tested for various models, control types, rated flows and pressure ratings at a 10-millisecond interval simulation pace. The simulation models take into consideration each product’s performance data available in the manufacturer specifications and adjust them to the specific project working conditions (oil viscosity, density, temperature, etc.). For example, to verify the influence of flow on pressure drop in a check valve, the pressure drop test is simulated as shown in Figure 4. With this test, the change in pressure drop with varying flow rate as per the specification is confirmed. This virtual test bench is available in the Catalogue.

Similarly, tests to validate the behaviour of a sequence valve are also available. In Figure 4, the behaviour of a VDP 06/NC sequence valve is tested in a cylinder extension application. These tests validate the performance of each product of the catalogue as per the manufacturer’s specifications. All the valves of this catalogue are ready to simulate and can be used directly in Automation Studio™ for any application project. The performance test files for each product are available in the “Documents” tab of the Catalogue Manager.

Figure 6 features a application circuit designed in Automation Studio™. It contains the manifold block which is designed by using ready to simulate Danfoss ICS valves drag and dropped from the Catalogue. It demonstrates that the same size valves are compatible and can be quickly configured and combined into industry-relevant applications.

Figure 7 shows a 3D manifold layout of the same block used in the application circuit showed in Figure 6. It demonstrates that these valves are compatible and can be simulated in the Automation Studio™ Live Manifold module. The module generates 50 to 100 routing solutions and displays the best solutions based on parameters like the smallest block dimension and the least number of drillings. Users can modify valve locations and orientations, port dimensions, assign counterbores and generate routings manually.
